“I have a right to collaborate with creativity, because I myself am a product and consequence of creation.” -Elizabeth Gilbert.

I give myself permission to experience and express my feelings in a way that allows me to better understand who I am, and what I am capable of. I am allowed to take up space, to feel large, to be seen. I can make mistakes without allowing my internal dialog to discourage or derail my progress. I may experience as much or as little happiness as I please without guilt. I acknowledge that to be novice at any age is a gift to be celebrated. Bad work does not exist as long as I continue learning in the process. I can have as many outlets in my life as I please that do not limit or interfere with my other pursuits or interests. I will be loud if I want. I may be as quiet as I please. I can feel pride in my work without becoming consumed, or void of it. My creativity is allowed to be frivolous, political, educational, spiritual, or healing. I am a maker. I am a human who is inspired by the things in this life that drive my curiosity, and I am allowed to express those fascinations in any physical, audible, and intangible moments of manifestation. I am the caretaker of my creativity. Only I may silence its voice. Only I may speak its name. I am a creative person.

When I vehemently defend my self-imposed limitations I alone get to keep them.
